Description

What kind of wine it is

The Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba by Ettore Germano is a structured red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes, an authentic expression of the Piedmontese territory. It stands out for its bright garnet colour and a complex aromatic profile, intertwining notes of cherry and rose with hints of liquorice, sweet spices and clear balsamic nuances. On the palate, it reveals a lively and full-bodied entry, with vibrant acidity perfectly balanced by firm yet velvety tannins. The finish, persistent and spicy, pairs beautifully with braised meats, truffle risottos and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from hillside vineyards situated between 330 and 400 metres above sea level, in the renowned areas of Prapò, Cerretta and Lazzarito. The optimal exposure and continental climate favour balanced ripening of the bunches. The clay and limestone soils, enriched with sandy sediments, provide the vines with ideal nourishment for a clear aromatic definition. The result is a classic profile that combines power and elegance, faithfully reflecting the character of Serralunga d’Alba.

How it is produced

Production begins with a rigorous manual harvest and careful selection of the bunches. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by a long maceration on the skins, a crucial step to extract colour and structure. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for about two years in oak barrels, which help to soften and stabilise the dense tannic structure. A further period of bottle ageing completes the evolution, giving the wine a deep and refined harmony on the palate.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1856, the iconic winery Ettore Germano, now led by oenologist Sergio Germano, offers a masterful interpretation of the Piedmontese territory.
