Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Renaissance Blanc De Meunier Extra Brut by Eric Taillet is a refined Champagne Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Meunier. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it stands out for its bright straw yellow colour and fine perlage. On the nose, it reveals intense notes of red fruits combined with delicate hints of yeast. On the palate, it is fresh, broad and persistent, with a dense flavour profile. This Extra Brut, rated 93 points by James Suckling, is ideal served at 6-8°C alongside shellfish, sushi, cured meats and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the Vallée de la Marne, an area historically suited to Pinot Meunier, and are harvested from six villages near Baslieux-sous-Châtillon. The character of the wine is shaped by old vines over forty years old, rooted in clay, marl and sandy soils. This particular soil composition ensures the grapes have remarkable aromatic concentration and expressive precision. The Eric Taillet winery manages its vineyards with the aim of enhancing the natural vocation of this terroir, deeply respecting the identity of the grape variety.
How it is produced
The cuvée is created according to the principles of the Traditional Method, enhancing the raw material through a slow secondary fermentation. The wine gains density and structural complexity thanks to 72 months of ageing on the lees in the cellar. The low dosage defines a dry and lively flavour profile, giving the Champagne a vibrant elegance. This perfect balance ensures remarkable longevity, allowing excellent evolution in the bottle for a period between five and ten years.
