Description
What type of wine it is
Enrico Serafino's Monclivio Barolo is a still red wine from Piedmont with a Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG), made from Nebbiolo grapes, characterised by an intense ruby colour with elegant garnet highlights. On the nose, it expresses a broad and complex bouquet, with aromas of redcurrant, liquorice and spices intertwined with notes of coffee and leather. On the palate, it proves full and harmonious, with soft tannins and hints of blackberry leading towards a pleasantly persistent finish, the result of fermentation in steel and long ageing in oak barrels. Thanks to its excellent ageing potential, it is the ideal companion for enhancing roast meats, game and mature cheeses, or for sipping after dinner.
Where it comes from
This Piedmontese red is born in the well-suited territories of Serralunga d’Alba and La Morra, within the renowned Barolo area. The vines are cultivated following the principles of sustainable viticulture on clay-limestone soils, ideal for giving structure to the wine. The vineyards, Guyot-trained and benefiting from excellent south and south-west sun exposure, allow the grapes to fully express the authentic and deep territorial identity of this historic area.
How it is produced
After a rigorous manual harvest, the bunches are carefully selected and cooled with dry ice to preserve primary aromas and prevent oxidation. Destemming and soft, delicate pressing follow. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place between steel and truncated conical vats, supported by a long maceration of over twenty-eight days. Finally, the wine matures for twenty-two months in oak barrels, developing its complex and refined structural harmony.

Founded by Serafino Enrico, an entrepreneur and landowner, the winery soon became one of the most important in Piedmont and among the first to spread the region's classic wines throughout Italy and abroad. In addition to the classic Piedmontese wines of the area, first and foremost Roero, Arneis and Barbera, the company produces great Barolo and Barbaresco from grapes from the nearby Langhe, noble and elegant wines in which the Nebbiolo grape variety expresses its characteristics at its best. But Enrico Serafino's pride and joy is the selection signed 'Cantina Maestra', in which the red wines Pasiunà and Parduné stand out, the highest expression of excellence of the Roero territory, and the Metodo Classico Alta Langa DOC sparkling wines.
