Description
What kind of wine it is
Duemani Altrovino is an organic red wine produced by the Duemani winery, an authentic expression of the Tuscan Coast. This blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc reveals an intense aromatic profile of small red fruits, Mediterranean scrub and spices, with mineral undertones. On the palate, it is enveloping, guided by silky tannins towards a fresh, savoury and pleasantly bitter finish. Its natural softness enhances the tasting of rich first courses, pork, game and flavourful cheeses.
Where it comes from
The vines grow on sunny hillside slopes near the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here, the plants benefit from constant sea breezes, which promote optimal ripening and give the sip a clear savouriness. The roots sink into compact clay soil and the vineyards are managed according to strict biodynamic principles with Guyot training. The coastal influence and careful agricultural management ensure healthy fruit and a harmonious tannic texture that fully reflects the character of the area.
How it is produced
The process begins with a spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts and a temperature-controlled maceration in cement vats. To preserve the aromatic and material integrity, the wine undergoes neither fining nor filtration. The ageing, which lasts from eight to ten months in large barrels and tonneaux, rounds out the structure, giving elegance and excellent ageing potential. To appreciate every nuance, it is recommended to serve between fourteen and sixteen degrees after one hour of decanting.
History and Curiosities
Born on the Tuscan estate Duemani, founded by Elena Celli and oenologist Luca D’Attoma, this prestigious IGT is the expression of the purest biodynamic viticulture. The vines, caressed by breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea on clay soils, yield grapes vinified with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats, without clarification or filtration. Thanks to careful ageing in large barrels and tonneaux, an internationally award-winning excellence is created, capable of evolving in the cellar for over a decade.
