Description
What kind of wine it is
Champagne Drappier Sans Soufre Brut Nature is a pure Blanc de Noirs, crafted using the Traditional Method. Produced by Drappier exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, it stands out for its Brut Nature style with zero dosage. Brilliant with coppery highlights, it offers a bouquet of red berries and vineyard peach. On the palate, it releases aromas of Williams pear, quince and blackcurrant, accompanied by a delicate citrus note. A straightforward and honest sip, enlivened by a vibrant freshness and a distinct roundness.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine originates in Urville, in the Côte des Bar, an area where Champagne expresses a marked personality. The vineyards are rooted in limestone and chalk soils typical of the Kimmeridgian, guiding the tasting towards a clear and defined texture. The winery's aim is to allow the Pinot Noir to express itself freely, limiting interventions to enhance the purity of the terroir. This rigorous agricultural approach has been recognised by critics, receiving a prestigious Decanter award.
How it is produced
The production process uses first pressing musts, obtained with mechanical presses at gentle pressure. To prevent oxidation, racking is carried out by gravity, with natural settling. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature for about two weeks. The winery excludes filtration and guarantees the absence of added sulphites. After a period in steel tanks to preserve freshness, it undergoes three years of ageing, essential for developing structural roundness without resorting to dosage sugars.

Seven centuries later (in 1808), the Drappier family estate was established around the magnificently preserved medieval Abbey. Today, it is managed by Michel Drappier and is used to store and age the exceptional wines he produces.
We planted our vineyard in Urville, the terroir that welcomed the Pinot Noir grape variety that now "runs in our veins" and we manage it according to organic and natural practices.
Our vineyards are like family archives that perpetuate our history. We grow heirloom grape varieties that deserve to be remembered: Fromenteau, Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Blanc Vrai. While many seek to achieve sophisticated excellence, we prefer natural and authentic qualities. We also highlight the many facets of our terroirs through our vinification techniques: our low sugar dosage and moderate use of sulfites – especially in the production of Drappier Brut Nature Sans Soufre.
