Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Drappier Blanc de Blancs Brut is a refined expression that combines Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. In the glass, it reveals a bright straw yellow colour, accompanied by an ultra-fine perlage and a silky texture. The bouquet offers clear notes of pear, white peach, fresh flowers and light hints of brioche. On the palate, it stands out for its lively minerality, driven by a brilliant acidity that structures the sip, leading to a long and clean finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Urville, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, a renowned geographical area of Champagne. The vineyards cultivated by Drappier rest on chalky soils and Jurassic Kimmeridgian limestone formations, geological elements that impart a pronounced savouriness and complete clarity of fruit to the blend. Drappier has been operating in this area since 1808, enhancing its characteristics to achieve a lean, vibrant profile with absolute aromatic precision.
How it is produced
Vinification strictly follows the Traditional Method, using first-press musts obtained from gentle pressing and moved exclusively by gravity. After natural settling and without filtration, fermentation takes place at a low temperature with complete malolactic conversion. Part of the wine matures in barrels for one year, followed by three years of ageing on the lees in bottle, an essential step to define its creamy texture.
History and Curiosities
Since 1808, Maison Drappier has cultivated excellence in Urville, in the Côte des Bar. This refined Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes grown on Kimmeridgian Jurassic limestone soils, which impart a vibrant minerality to the wine. The meticulous artisanal vinification, characterised by a very low use of sulphites and the complete absence of filtration, enhances its pure and crystalline character. Highly acclaimed by critics and awarded 93 points by Falstaff, this cuvée offers an ultra-fine perlage that transforms every toast into a moment of pure elegance.

Seven centuries later (in 1808), the Drappier family estate was established around the magnificently preserved medieval Abbey. Today, it is managed by Michel Drappier and is used to store and age the exceptional wines he produces.
We planted our vineyard in Urville, the terroir that welcomed the Pinot Noir grape variety that now "runs in our veins" and we manage it according to organic and natural practices.
Our vineyards are like family archives that perpetuate our history. We grow heirloom grape varieties that deserve to be remembered: Fromenteau, Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Blanc Vrai. While many seek to achieve sophisticated excellence, we prefer natural and authentic qualities. We also highlight the many facets of our terroirs through our vinification techniques: our low sugar dosage and moderate use of sulfites – especially in the production of Drappier Brut Nature Sans Soufre.
