Description
What type of wine it is
Bell’Assai by Donnafugata is a still red wine from Sicily, with the Vittoria designation, which expresses the authentic character of Frappato. Vinified in steel to enhance freshness and elegance, it offers a clear and refined aromatic profile. On the nose, it delivers intense floral notes of violet and rose, intertwined with delicate hints of strawberry and raspberry. On the palate, it is smooth, guided by soft and silky tannins that enhance its overall pleasantness, proving ideal for accompanying aperitifs, grilled vegetables, fish soups, or tuna sushi.
Where it comes from
Its origin lies in south-eastern Sicily, in the territory of Acate and within the Vittoria area, a privileged environment situated between the Iblei plateau and the sea. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about one hundred and fifty metres, rooting in gently sloping soils with a predominant sandy component and limestone subsoils. The warm temperate climate is mitigated during the summer by the sea breeze, with temperature fluctuations between day and night that are fundamental for preserving the acidity and integrity of the aromatic profile.
How it is produced
The production process begins with separate harvests according to the plots, so as to ensure the ideal ripeness of every cluster. In the cellar, the must undergoes fermentation in stainless steel with maceration for about eight days at a controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine completes malolactic fermentation and undergoes ageing in tanks for four months, aimed at preserving the fragrance of the primary aromas. After a period of resting in the bottle, the wine displays a brilliant ruby red colour enriched by lively violet highlights.
