Description

What kind of wine it is

Menetou-Salon Blanc Le Blanchais from Domaine Pellé is a still organic white wine that faithfully reflects the terroir of the Loire Valley. Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, it appears in the glass with a bright golden yellow hue. The nose offers an intense impact, characterised by clear aromas of ripe yellow-fleshed fruit and delicate hints of exotic fruit. On the palate, it is elegant, light and fresh, delivering a clean and perfectly balanced sip. Its natural harmony makes it an ideal companion to enhance the flavours of fish and shellfish, and it also pairs beautifully with flavourful cheeses.

Where it comes from

The wine originates in the commune of Morogues, within the prestigious Menetou-Salon appellation, from north-east facing vineyards cultivated according to the strict principles of organic farming. The vines sink their roots into Kimmeridgian marl soils, enriched on the surface with clay, limestone and flint. This unique geological composition imparts a clear mineral imprint and great precision to the palate. The interaction between Sauvignon Blanc and the local microclimate creates an authentic territorial expression, endowed with an ageing potential that can approach a decade.

How it is produced

The production process begins with the direct pressing of the grapes, an essential step to preserve the integrity and aromatic purity of the must. Fermentation takes place through a careful alternation of wooden vats, barrels and stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a prolonged ageing on fine lees, carried out mainly in barrels and steel, which gives greater depth and roundness to the final structure. This meticulous work enhances the natural liveliness of the grape variety without compromising its elegance. To fully appreciate its nuances, it is recommended to serve between 12 and 14°C.

From this winery
Our Domaine takes its roots in Morogues, a village at the far eastern end of the Loire Valley. Our cellars are close to the village centre, nestling below our beautiful "Les Cris" red grape vineyard. In each of our vineyard plots in the neighbouring Menetou-salon and Sancerre appellations, we observe Mother Nature, cherishing and working with her so that she gives us her very best in return.

In this part of the world, we think, make and drink wine; sharing ideas, a glass of wine or two, and the taste of our land, with our friends and customers.
