Description
What kind of wine it is
The BRDA Cru Selection Pinot Noir by Marjan Simcic is a still red wine that enhances the distinctive characteristics of Pinot Noir. On the nose, the aromatic profile reveals notes of ripe cherries and cherries in spirit, accompanied by a subtle hint of orange zest. Visually, it stands out for its slightly transparent ruby red colour, enriched with orange reflections. On the palate, it is balanced and pleasantly smooth, with a well-structured body. The taste echoes the fruity notes perceived on the nose and finishes with a delicate menthol note, offering a long and complex persistence.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in Slovenia, within the cru vineyards of the renowned Brda region. Marjan Simcic adopts strict organic and precision viticulture to protect the natural balance of the environment. The vines grow on soils composed of calcareous marl, locally known as Opoka, which give the wine a solid structure and a defined drinkability. The harvest in mid-September allows the most authentic and pure expression of the territory to be transferred to the glass.
How it is produced
The vinification process begins with spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts in steel tanks. The maceration on the skins lasts for fourteen days, ensuring ideal aromatic extraction. After gentle pressing, the wine undergoes slow maturation divided between oak barrels and barriques, a fundamental step to enrich the organoleptic profile. A final period of ageing ensures the achievement of perfect structural balance.
History and Curiosities
This Pinot Noir BRDA Cru Selection originates in the heart of the Slovenian region, the result of the dedication of Marjan Simčič, a fifth-generation winemaker. The estate adopts strict organic viticulture to enhance the value of the old vineyards, which have their roots in calcareous and marl soils. The 2022 vintage comes to life through artisanal vinification with indigenous yeasts, followed by a lengthy maturation in French oak barrels and barriques. The result is a red wine of extraordinary quality, well-structured and capable of evolving beautifully in the bottle for up to ten years.
