Description

What kind of wine it is

Domaine Magnien Morey Saint Denis Grains Fins is a still red wine that elegantly expresses the character of Burgundy. Made from Pinot Noir grapes, it stands out for its clear and refined aromatic profile. In the glass, it displays a ruby red colour and releases intense aromas of small red fruits. On the palate, it is enveloping, offering a harmonious sip centred on distinct notes of strawberry and currant. Its smooth structure makes it ideal for pairing with poultry, veal, game, and cheese boards.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis. The vineyards are rooted in a complex limestone subsoil of Jurassic origin, enriched with clay and gypsum that ensure balanced nourishment. This particular composition gives the wine superior definition and a compact flavour profile. The vines, trained using the Guyot method, have an average age of forty-five years. Domaine Stephane Magnien follows sustainable practices, excluding the use of chemical herbicides to preserve the integrity and natural balance of the plants.

How it is produced

Production begins with meticulous manual harvesting, followed by carefully managed maceration to extract colour and primary aromas. Fermentation takes place exclusively thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts at a controlled temperature, with careful management of extraction through punching down and pumping over. Ageing continues for twelve months in barrels, with a small percentage of new wood used to help integrate the structure. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtration, preserving its lively fruity expressiveness and characteristic smoothness.

History and Curiosities

The true essence of Burgundy is revealed in this Morey-Saint-Denis Grains Fins 2022, the result of four generations of expertise at Domaine Stephane Magnien. Produced from old vines aged 45 years on clay-limestone soils, this Pinot Noir is hand-harvested following sustainable practices. Vinification with indigenous yeasts and 12 months of ageing in barriques enhance its aromatic structure with rare elegance. Bottled without filtration, this red wine envelops the palate with softness and fresh notes of red fruits, offering hints of strawberry and currant.

From this winery
Viticulturists-winemakers for four generations, we tend our vines and produce our wines in the traditional way ...

Hand harvesting, traditional winemaking, a tame kept from plowing that has never known herbicides, thinning, green harvest, organic amendments, ... And objective somes: aromatic concentration, character of the appellation, finesse, freshness, elegance, .. .

Located in the heart of the Cotes de Nuits (in Burgundy) between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, this is a 4.5-hectare vineyard in the area that produces a full range of fine wines. Our small family estate has respected for four generations the traditional viticultural methods that allow us to offer high quality wines.

The vineyard enjoys an enviable terroir with a limestone subsoil, dating back to the Jurassic period, and the soil, a mixture of naturally irrigated clay and plaster. The climate in Burgundy is semi-continental (hot summers, cold winters). On average, the age of the vines is 45 years.

The family home and the original cellars (still in use) date back to 1789 (French Revolution) Far from the fashion trends, you will discover that our wines are elegant, fruity and full of freshness while remaining faithful to the "terroir" from which they come. We work our packs ourselves (pruning, green harvesting, ...) and we love to find, the personality, the character of their "climate".
