Description
What kind of wine is it
The Champagne Grand Cru from Domaine Les Monts Fournois is made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Crafted using the Traditional Method, it stands out for its bright straw-yellow colour and fine perlage. On the nose, it offers fruity aromas intertwined with delicate yeast notes, while on the palate it reveals marked freshness and a deep mineral character. The dry style of the Extra Brut makes it ideal for pairing with starters, lean fish and cheeses, providing a refined experience when served chilled.
Where does it come from
This cuvée originates in France, in the Champagne region, specifically in Verzy, within the renowned Montagne de Reims area. The region, known as La Grande Montagne, boasts soils of extraordinary quality. The project by Domaine Les Monts Fournois enhances historic family-run vineyards through strong partnerships with local growers. This synergy results in a limited production, designed to offer a true expression of the terroir and ensure a dry, linear and exceptionally clean wine.
How is it produced
Vinification strictly follows the Traditional Method, with meticulous care at every stage. The blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay undergoes a long maturation on the lees for over nine years. This extended ageing enriches the aromatic complexity and imparts a tactile texture of great finesse. The low Extra Brut dosage maintains a pleasantly dry sensation, preserving flavour precision. Every technical step aims to deliver an elegant wine, with taut freshness that faithfully reflects its place of origin.
History and Curiosities
Born from the expertise of the talented producer Juliette Alips, Domaine Les Monts Fournois signs this prestigious Champagne Grand Cru, produced in a limited edition of only 2,000 bottles. The result of the 2014 vintage and the renowned Verzy terroir, this classic method Extra Brut perfectly harmonises Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The exceptionally long ageing on the lees for over nine years offers a rare tasting experience, awarded 94 points by Vinous and Wine Spectator, a sublime expression of the legendary Montagne de Reims.

Graduated from oenology school in Beaune in 2020, Juliette already has a few vintages under her belt with acclaimed producers like Louis Latour in Bourgogne, G.D. Vajra in Piedmont, and closer to home, Roederer Estate where she spent more than a year learning from this iconic maison.
Now, with the help of her two cousins, she is starting this new adventure with Domaine Les Monts Fournois. Located in the north part of the Montagne de Reims, in the sub-area called La Grande Montagne, the Premier Cru Les Monts Fournois will be the focus of the domaine. Until the first vintage of that wine releases in a couple of years, the Domaine is offering a very small selection of vintage Grand Cru Champagnes. Using the extensive and strong family grower relationships developed by her cousins, Juliette is able to source tiny quantities of superb champagne from iconic vineyards to craft these exceptional wines.
We are pleased to present this inaugural offering of 3 grands crus: a 2015 Côte Grand Cru from the Côtes des Blancs, a 2016 Côte from the Oger Grand Cru in the Côtes des Blancs and a few, highly coveted cases of 2012 Montagne Grand Cru from the Montagne de Reims area. Read more
