Description

What kind of wine it is

Champagne La Garenne Brut Nature from Domaine Lagille is a Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Meunier grapes. Produced strictly using the Traditional Method, this pas dosé sparkling wine stands out for its straw yellow colour with golden highlights and a fine perlage. The bouquet combines clear fruity aromas with elegant yeast notes. On the palate, it is dry, complex and pleasant, offering a linear sip that naturally enhances raw fish, crispy tempura and cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes grow in the Vallée de l’Ardres, on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims, in Champagne. The vines sink their roots into soils characterised by a mosaic of clay, sand and limestone. This geological composition enhances the expressiveness of Pinot Meunier, imparting a clear territorial imprint to the glass. The interaction between the vine and the hilly microclimate results in a defined structure, capable of outlining the distinctive character and authenticity of this Blanc de Noirs.

How it is produced

Fermentation takes place entirely in oak barrels. The prise de mousse in the bottle follows the principles of the Traditional Method, essential for developing its unmistakable elegance. The complete absence of dosage consolidates the rigorous style of the Brut Nature. The decision to operate with zero filtration finally allows the varietal nuances and the wine’s authentic aromatic heritage to remain intact.

History and Curiosities

Produced by Lagille & Fils, winemakers since 1818, this Champagne Blanc de Noirs expresses the authentic soul of the Ardre Valley. Made exclusively from Pinot Meunier, it boasts vinification in oak barrels and the use of the classic pas dosé method. This choice, combined with the absence of filtration, preserves intense fruity aromas and fragrant yeast notes. On the palate, it reveals itself as complex and pleasantly dry, enhanced by a fine perlage that elegantly complements raw seafood, crispy tempura and cheeses, making every aperitif unique.

Our vineyard is located on the terroir of the Ardres Valley, a hidden and wild beauty of the western slopes of the mountain of Reims. Our estate has 7ha spread over the villages of Treslon, Faverolles-et-coemy, Savigny-sur-Ardres and Chaumuzy: a rich patchwork of plots and varied soils: clay, sand, clay-limestone. This gives an important aromatic palette, and the possibility of multiple blends. The estate's grape varieties are 55% meunier, 30% chardonnay and 25% pinot noir. Le Meunier, a grape variety mainly from the Champagne region, offers its authenticity and fruitiness with greedy, soft and intense nuances. Read more
