Description
What kind of wine it is
Klipfel Crémant d’Alsace Brut is a label from Domaine Klipfel produced from a blend of Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In the glass, it appears bright, animated by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, floral aromas emerge, along with notes of yellow fruit and hints of fresh red berries. On the palate, it is a Brut sparkling wine with good body, a fragrant sip and a pleasant fruity finish, ideal for pairing with shellfish and sushi.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is produced in north-eastern France, within the Crémant d’Alsace denomination. The vines grow on well-drained hillside soils, benefiting from ideal pedoclimatic conditions. The region’s climate favours optimal ripening of the grapes, while maintaining the pronounced acidity required for sparkling wine bases. This balance ensures a sip with balanced freshness, precisely expressing the authentic identity of the Alsatian territory.
How it is produced
Production strictly follows the principles of the Traditional Method. After the first fermentation, the base wine undergoes the delicate prise de mousse in the bottle. The prolonged ageing on the lees is essential to give structure and develop the elegant yeasty notes perceptible on tasting. This period of rest shapes a sensory profile of refined complexity, offering velvety bubbles and a long, harmonious finish.

They were amongst the first to start producing « Vendanges Tardives » (late harvests) and « Sélection de Grains Nobles » (selection of noble grapes) as soon as 1921 on the Clos Zisser and on the Kirchberg of Barr, more than sixty years before the official appellation of these two vineyards. Further developed by André Lorentz (former member of the Académie du vin de France, the renowned Academy of French wines), the family business is today run by Jean-Louis Lorentz-Klipfel as well as by his daughters Anne-Sophie, Marie and Amélie.
