Description

Type of wine

Alsace Gewurztraminer from Domaine Klipfel is a still and aromatic white wine, characterised by an enveloping and pleasantly soft style. To the eye, it appears bright yellow with luminous golden reflections. The bouquet expresses intense notes of lychee and passion fruit, harmonised with refined hints of rose and red pepper. On the palate, the fine structure supports a rich and spicy texture, where the sip reveals a long aromatic persistence and a floral finish enriched by delicate nuances of honey. This demi-sec profile ensures a satisfying and perfectly balanced drink.

Origin

This white originates from the Barr territory, located in the famous Alsace region of France. The terroir is historically suited to enhancing the Gewürztraminer grape variety and its typical spicy character. The Cuvée Louis Klipfel pays homage to the roots of Domaine Klipfel, a winery active in these lands since 1824.

Martin Klipfel creates the Klipfel Domain in 1824, which is now a family estate covering 40Ha. In 1830 Martin acquires the prestigious Clos Zisser. His son Eugène and grandson Louis Klipfel bring significant growth to the family business.

They were amongst the first to start producing « Vendanges Tardives » (late harvests) and « Sélection de Grains Nobles » (selection of noble grapes) as soon as 1921 on the Clos Zisser and on the Kirchberg of Barr, more than sixty years before the official appellation of these two vineyards. Further developed by André Lorentz (former member of the Académie du vin de France, the renowned Academy of French wines), the family business is today run by Jean-Louis Lorentz-Klipfel as well as by his daughters Anne-Sophie, Marie and Amélie.
