Description
What kind of wine it is
Jean-Michel Welty's Crémant d’Alsace Blanc de Noirs Brut Nature is an organic sparkling wine that highlights the character of Pinot Noir. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow colour, enlivened by a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet reveals subtle hints of red fruits, delicate white flowers and a clear mineral note. On the palate, its Brut Nature identity offers a dry, taut and crisp sip. The use of the Traditional Method ensures a clean aromatic development and a pronounced gastronomic vocation.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine is crafted in Orschwihr, France, within the prestigious Crémant d’Alsace area. The Jean-Michel Welty estate has been cultivating its vineyards in this historic region since 1738. Under the guidance of the new generation, the company has introduced organic farming to authentically express the identity of Alsatian soils. This sustainable agricultural approach allows for perfectly balanced grapes, essential for creating a sparkling wine with vibrant linearity.
How it is produced
The production of this Blanc de Noirs involves careful white vinification of Pinot Noir grapes, followed by a slow secondary fermentation in the bottle as required by the Traditional Method. Offered without added dosage, the wine maintains absolute expressive purity and a strictly dry profile, enhancing the precision of the fruit. This essential process ensures excellent cellaring potential, allowing the sparkling wine to mature and enrich its sensory spectrum over the years.
History and Curiosities
The roots of the Jean-Michel Welty family estate date back to 1738 in Orschwihr. Under Jérémy's guidance, the company has embraced organic cultivation since 2012, enhancing the identity of the Alsatian territory. This refined Blanc de Noirs is made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes and is vinified according to the traditional method. Eight generations later, we are continuing this wonderful family story, which links us so closely to the land, the vines and the wine, with the same faith and the same enthusiasm.
Every day, our work is guided by the conviction that nature will give us back what we have given her.
It's been over thirty-five years since Jean-Michel took up the torch left by his father Fernand, gradually doubling the surface area of the vineyard.
In September 2012, he was joined by his son Jérémy, who brought a breath of fresh air to the estate with new creations and a new method of cultivation: Organic Farming. Read more
