Description

What kind of wine it is

Cremant de Limoux Les Graimenous Brut is a Traditional Method sparkling wine produced by Domaine J. Laurens. This blend skilfully combines Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Mauzac and Pinot Noir. The bouquet offers lively aromas of citrus and green apple, enriched by notes of dried fruit and subtle hints of honey. On the palate, it is rounded and well-structured, characterised by a distinct toasted bread note resulting from the ageing process. The tasting concludes with a persistent aftertaste of fresh fruit and lime, confirming a balanced and precise flavour profile.

Where it comes from

This wine originates from the Crémant de Limoux area, within the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Domaine J. Laurens cultivates thirty hectares of vineyards, focusing exclusively on the production of sparkling wines. The estate adopts a rigorous and attentive approach, maintaining low yields and favouring minimal intervention in the vineyard to encourage the natural development of the vines. This dedication ensures highly precise viticulture, essential for enhancing the quality of the grapes and the natural vocation of the terroir.

How it is produced

Vinification takes place in a technologically advanced winery, where the Traditional Method is carried out with absolute precision. The winemaking processes aim to preserve the freshness of the fruit and perfectly control the formation of the bubbles. Served at a temperature between 6 and 8°C, it proves to be an excellent pairing for aperitifs, oysters, seafood, and light fish or white meat dishes. Its remarkable ageing potential allows for optimal evolution over time, ensuring gastronomic versatility that is also ideal alongside cheese selections.

History and Curiosities

Thanks to a state-of-the-art winery dedicated exclusively to the production of sparkling wines, the estate creates a work of meticulous precision, awarded 91 points by Decanter.

The domain is located in the south of France, in the small village called "La Digne d'Aval", less than 5 kilometers from Limoux, a stone's throw from the famous old city of Carcassonne, one hour from Toulouse and two hours from Montpellier . Since the 80s, the domain processes only sparkling wines in "AOC" by Blanquette and Cremant de Limoux on 30 hectares. Story of a computer engineer from the region who reinvents himself as a vigneron at the time of retirement.

The company already set up over time by Michel Dervin, "champagnard" on the road, has everything to look good in the generous but rather closed context of Limoux. Low yields, the least invasive interventions possible, technologically advanced cellar. Only bubbles as the centuries-old tradition of this territory wants. Awards are based, above all, on the stratospheric price / quality ratio and the pleasant drinkability of its products.
