Description
What kind of wine it is
Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Rouge by Confuron-Cotetidot is a still red wine that purely expresses the elegance of Pinot Noir. In the glass, it displays a bright ruby colour with pronounced garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals notes of blackberry, raspberry, wild berries and violet, accompanied by captivating hints of damp earth. On the palate, the full-bodied and fruity structure offers a deep sip, finishing with a long and persistent aftertaste. Boasting great ageing potential, it requires time to soften and reveal its full complexity. It is ideal paired with red meats and game, and also beautifully enhances mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This label originates from the renowned Côte de Nuits, within the historic Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru area. Confuron-Cotetidot tends its vineyards with the aim of achieving the highest expression of the terroir, without any compromise on quality. The vines sink their roots into exceptional soils that impart great concentration to the grapes. The agricultural work is focused on maintaining naturally low yields, accentuating the aromatic intensity of the fruit. By harvesting the grapes only at full ripeness, the winery ensures impeccable raw material, capable of faithfully translating the structure and authenticity of Burgundy into every single glass.
How it is produced
In the winery, conservative practices are adopted to enhance the character of the grape variety. The must undergoes a long whole-cluster maceration, with no destemming, followed by gentle pressing to extract only the finest tannins. Ageing continues for eighteen to twenty-four months in second and third-fill oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop a deep structural harmony without excessive wood influence. The process is completed with no filtration whatsoever, thus preserving the original aromatic identity and ensuring a wine of pure character and extraordinary ageing capacity.
