Description

What kind of wine it is

Crémant d’Alsace L’Absolu Extra Brut is a refined sparkling wine made using the Traditional Method, elegantly expressing the character of Alsace. Created from a harmonious blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, it displays a brilliant straw yellow colour and a fine, persistent mousse. The aromatic bouquet is fresh, with clear varietal notes typical of the region. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant liveliness and good acidity, making it an excellent match for starters, shellfish, lean fish and cheeses.

Where it comes from

Domaine Bott-Geyl cultivates its vineyards in Alsace according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. Under the guidance of Jean-Christophe Bott, the estate operates with total respect for the ecosystem, maintaining low yields and minimal intervention in the cellar. The fifteen hectares of estate vineyards are managed with a focus on sustainability, allowing the grapes to purely and faithfully reflect the region’s historic winemaking tradition.

How it is produced

After a careful manual harvest, vinification follows the strict rules of the Traditional Method. The wine is aged on the lees for twenty-four months before disgorgement, acquiring remarkable definition and complexity. The Extra Brut dosage gives it a taut, clean and vertical profile. This meticulous artisanal process is confirmed by excellent scores from international critics, particularly from prestigious names such as Decanter and James Suckling.

History and Curiosities

Since 1795, the historic Domaine Bott-Geyl winery has pursued excellence in Alsace. Under the guidance of Jean-Christophe Bott, the estate adopts a philosophy based on minimal intervention and a strict organic and biodynamic approach. This prestigious Crémant d’Alsace Extra Brut is the result of meticulous hand harvesting and 24 months of ageing before disgorgement, following the Traditional Method. The skilful blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir delivers an elegant and refined sip, awarded an excellent score of 92/100 by Decanter.

Jean-Christophe Bott is the heir to a family tradition dating back to 1795, when his ancestor, Jean-Martin Geyl, tended the vineyards and made wine. Jean-Christophe Bott has been in charge of Domaine Bott-Geyl since 1993 and converted the vineyards to organic in 2000 and biodynamic in 2002.

In the vineyards, he concentrates on low yields and in the cellars, he oversees winemaking in the most natural and minimalist way possible.

The art combines tradition and modernity, perpetuating the vineyard for the next generations and protecting its ecology.

Today, the company cultivates 15 hectares of vines, including 6 Grands Crus and 4 Lieux-dits.
