Description
What kind of wine it is
Derbusco Cives Franciacorta Blanc de Blanc Brut is a sparkling wine that best expresses the potential of its territory, made from the pure vinification of Chardonnay. On the nose, it reveals a deep profile, with complex citrus notes of bergamot and citron, intertwined with delicate acacia flowers and hints of white pepper. On the palate, it stands out for its exuberant freshness and marked savouriness, offering a taut and vibrant sip. The tasting concludes with a chalky and clean finish, confirming its significant structure and clear gustatory identity.
Where it comes from
This sparkling wine originates in Erbusco, a Lombard town considered the heart of Franciacorta. In these dedicated lands, the Derbusco Cives winery is committed to enhancing its vineyards through extremely meticulous production, favouring an artisanal approach at every stage of agricultural work. The strong connection with its place of origin is reflected in the character of the wine, designed to rigorously interpret the peculiarities of the soil and local microclimate. The profound territorial vocation translates into a sip with a remarkable capacity for evolution, ready to mature over the years while maintaining its mineral component intact.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a meticulous selection of the grapes, from which only the free-run must is obtained. The first fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel, an ideal choice to preserve the original characteristics of the Chardonnay and the brilliance of its straw yellow colour with greenish hues. The slow prise de mousse follows the principles of the Traditional Method, involving a long maturation on the lees of at least thirty-six months. Afterwards, the wine continues its development through a prolonged period in the bottle, a crucial step that enriches the profile with pleasant evolved notes and consolidates the harmony of the drinking experience.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 2004 in Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, Derbusco Cives skilfully combines ancestral methods with modern architecture. Led by oenologist Domenico Danesi, the company cultivates twelve hectares while maintaining a strict artisanal approach. The decision to limit production to just 70,000 bottles allows a focus on the pursuit of the highest quality. This unwavering dedication to excellence has led the Blanc de Blancs Brut to win over the Italian Sommelier Foundation and the prestigious 2 Veronelli stars.

The building of the cellar was finished in March 2013. The architectural style is modern with a pentagonal emerging central body and a single pitched roof built in exposed bleached wood. The pentagon shape was chosen to represent the five founding partners of the winery. Alongside the pentagon there stand two wings of the building with a green roof garden. The outer walls are covered in natural cork. In the pentagonal central body, on the raised floor, there is a tasting room with wide windows and a terrace, overlooking the vineyards. On the ground and basement floors are the processing rooms of the winery. Read more
