Description

What kind of wine it is

Marghe Langhe Nebbiolo by Damilano is a still red wine that encapsulates the elegance of Piedmont, made from Nebbiolo grapes. This expression from the Langhe boasts a dry, harmonious sensory profile with a good, velvety body. The well-integrated tannins and a pleasant acidic freshness support the structure of the sip, outlining a refined and persistent style. Its balanced taste makes it ideal for traditional cuisine, enhancing truffle dishes, mushroom risottos, braised red meats and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

Born on the Piedmontese hills in the Barolo area, this wine faithfully reflects the calcareous-sandy soils and clay-rich terrain of its original vineyards. This soil composition gives a structured texture and an authentic territorial imprint, supported by strict organic and sustainable production. In the glass, it displays a bright ruby red colour with garnet highlights, anticipating a broad aromatic profile. Clear notes of violet and red fruits emerge, elegantly finished by delicate spicy and herbal nuances that testify to Damilano's rigour.

How it is produced

The vinification of Nebbiolo grapes begins with fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for twelve days, a technique that preserves the primary aromas while maintaining a defined olfactory imprint. Afterwards, the wine matures for sixteen months in large Slavonian oak barrels. This ageing allows for a profound evolution of the material, softening the tannin and imparting roundness. The result is a glass with a long and harmonious finish, whose complexity is best expressed by decanting for an hour before serving.

History and Curiosities

The Damilano Marghe Langhe Nebbiolo 2023 fully expresses the identity of a historic Barolo winery, founded in 1890. This elegant red is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown on calcareous-sandy soils that enhance the authenticity of the Piedmontese terroir. The wine's excellence is revealed through skilful ageing in Slavonian oak for 16 months, which gives the palate a soft and velvety texture. Awarded 90 points by James Suckling, this Equalitas-certified Langhe DOC boasts organic and sustainable production.
