Description

What kind of wine it is

Casale Ciliani Malvasia Primitivo by D’Addario is a still red wine that expresses the authenticity of the Apulian region. This blend of Primitivo and Malvasia Nera presents itself with a ruby hue and violet reflections. On the nose and palate, clear notes of plum, cherry and blackberry emerge, well integrated with elegant hints of almond, fig and cinnamon. The taste is full and well-structured, ideal for enhancing red meats, mature cheeses and Mediterranean cuisine dishes with balance.

Where it comes from

The grapes originate from Salento, a region naturally suited to the cultivation of red grape varieties. The vineyards stretch between the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto, with roots sinking into calcareous soil tending towards clay with little stoniness. This specific geological matrix gives the wine its precise identity, characterising the sip with intense dark fruit and a clear and persistent spicy finish.

How it is produced

Production involves malolactic fermentation, a decisive step in defining the smoothness of the taste. This is followed by a resting period of about three or four months in medium-toasted French oak barrels. This brief passage in wood delicately integrates the aromatic profile, balancing the fruit with the spicy component. The result is a harmonious flavour profile, capable of beautifully accompanying meat ragù, structured first courses and tasty game-based dishes.

History and Curiosities

The Casale Ciliani IGP Salento embodies the great richness of Apulia, harmoniously combining the power of Primitivo with the elegance of Malvasia Nera. Produced by Aziende Agricole D’Addario, this sumptuous red from the 2019 vintage has achieved excellence, earning 94 points from Luca Maroni. Its enveloping smoothness is the result of careful ageing in French oak barrels, which enhances the natural notes of plum and blackberry with an extraordinary spicy cinnamon finish. A triumph of pure authenticity in every glass.

Aziende Agricole D’Addario is inspired by the ambition, the love for the land, and the dream of bottling wines which recount the authentic strength of Puglia. These have driven the D’Addario family to pursue a production model aimed at creating refined wines of the highest quality.

From this pursuit of exellence originate the close ties with families of expert, experienced winemakers in two very strategic areas of Puglia: Sava, home of the renowned Primitivo di Manduria DOC, and Turi, cradle of the Primitivo DOC of Gioia del Colle.
