Description
What kind of wine it is
Corte Giara Amarone della Valpolicella La Groletta is a rich and enveloping red wine of great depth. Made from a blend of Corvina Veronese and Rondinella, this wine faithfully represents the essence of Amarone della Valpolicella. On the palate, it is elegant, with velvety, well-integrated tannins, balanced by a pleasant freshness. The aromatic profile is intense, characterised by notes of overripe red fruit that blend with hints of pepper, cloves, tobacco and balsamic nuances, offering a satisfying and persistent sip.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located on the hills of Fumane, in the heart of the denomination. The vines, situated between 450 and 520 metres above sea level, benefit from an optimal south-east exposure to ensure the proper ripening of the grapes. The soil is of clay-limestone origin, rich in stones and well-drained, ideal characteristics for giving the wine structure and complexity. Under the guidance of the Allegrini family, the Corte Giara brand carefully enhances the potential and qualities of this renowned area.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a natural drying process in a drying room for about four months, a fundamental step for concentrating sugars and aromas. In January, destemming and gentle pressing take place, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. The wine initially matures in stainless steel tanks and continues its development for fifteen months in Slavonian oak barrels and second-use barriques. A meticulous final ageing in the bottle completes the development and balance of this Amarone della Valpolicella.
History and Curiosities
Born from the experience of the Allegrini family, rooted in Fumane since the 16th century, this Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG expresses the purest soul of the Veronese territory. Since 1989, the Corte Giara brand has combined deep tradition with a modern vision. The excellence of La Groletta stems from the meticulous natural drying of Corvina and Rondinella grapes, which gives the palate an intense and enveloping sip. Highly acclaimed by international critics, it boasts prestigious awards such as the renowned Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso.
