Description
What kind of wine it is
Vistorta Merlot by Conte Brandolini d’Adda is an organic red wine with a velvety structure. This expression of Merlot shines in the glass with a vibrant ruby colour. The bouquet is complex, dominated by red and black fruits intertwined with hints of undergrowth. Balsamic notes stand out, with touches of blackberry, tobacco and nuances of coffee. On the palate, it is dry and silky, supported by fine, substantial tannins. The taste is balanced and harmonious, offering hints of blackcurrant and elderberry, finishing with a pleasantly peppery note.
Where it comes from
This red originates in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in the Sacile area. The connection with the land is expressed through the Venezia Giulia denomination, a region always renowned for its excellent viticulture. The vines grow in the Grave terroir, where the microclimate favours optimal ripening of the grapes. The winery follows a strict organic approach, operating in full respect of the ecosystem. Constant attention to the Friulian terroir ensures a wine capable of evolving with great elegance over time.
How it is produced
The vinification enhances the aromatic purity of the Merlot grapes. Fermentation takes place mainly in cement vats, alongside ceramic containers. Ageing continues for twelve months in barrels, a fundamental step to smooth the tannic texture and harmoniously integrate the spicy notes, resulting in a powerful yet balanced sip. Thanks to its elegant softness, it is the ideal pairing for flavourful dishes, perfectly accompanying roast red meats, lamb and game.

After concluding his studies, Brandino’s return to Venice and to his beloved Vistorta once again aroused strong emotions, as a place that had provided play space during an happy childhood now became his home as an adult. But destiny intervened once again: following a stay at Château Greysac's estate in Bordeaux, he made the decision, along with winemaker George Pauli, to focus totally on the merlot grape. Results were not slow to follow, for after just a few years, prestigious accolades amply confirmed that he had selected the correct path, and Vistorta was soon saluted as one of Italy’s truly great wines.
