Description
What kind of wine it is
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Pinònero Natura Dosaggio Zero Riserva is a Traditional Method sparkling wine that authentically expresses the character of Pinot Noir. It appears a straw yellow with slight orange reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. The bouquet is multifaceted, marked by notes of pink grapefruit, wild strawberry, white flowers, acacia honey and fresh oregano. On the palate, it offers a crisp and fruity sip, with a savoury finish ideal for pairing with raw seafood and delicate veloutés.
Where it comes from
This Franciacorta originates in Lombardy, from the vineyards cultivated by Contadi Castaldi in Adro. The vines sink their roots into moraine soils rich in minerals, an element that gives the wine its pronounced savoury streak. The harvest, carried out between late August and early September with low yields, ensures ripe and intact grapes. The winemaking project aims to enhance the specific characteristics of the area, offering a faithful and vibrant interpretation of the local terroir.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with a gentle pressing of the grapes and cold settling of the must. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel, followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The wine matures for seven months, resting partly in steel tanks and partly in barrels, before undergoing the secondary fermentation. The long ageing on the lees of over sixty months defines the complexity and finesse of the perlage. The strict choice of zero dosage preserves the expressive purity and mineral tension, maintaining a dry flavour profile.
History and Curiosities
Born in Lombardy from the vision of Vittorio Moretti, the Contadi Castaldi winery combines modern experimentation with sparkling wine excellence. Under the guidance of oenologist Gian Luca Uccelli, this prestigious Franciacorta enhances the warm 2017 vintage, capable of producing a healthy and extraordinarily concentrated pure Pinot Noir. The artisanal rigour of the Traditional Method is expressed through a slow maturation of over 60 months on the lees; the absence of final dosage gives a pure and authentic soul, rewarded with four Bibenda bunches and a score of 90/100.

Satèn means silkiness, a sensation that transferred from touch to the palate and can be rendered with creaminess even though this doesn’t convey the freshness of Satèn Contadi Castaldi. How can we describe it? Maybe by taking a step back and staying with the expression "like silk". Anything that is able to evoke the full-bodied lightness, the depth of thought, the princely humour that is as delicate as it is politely fickle, a graceful smile or a gesture that sows questions.
So, we're almost there. If we squeeze into a single image the impression of freshness, softness, immediacy, charging it with the absolute yellow of gold, we cannot but define what is young, who or who feels young. Satèn evokes that malice still lacking in contrasts, a free richness, the ease of wanting with joy. Read more
