Description

What kind of wine it is

Champagne Largillier Brut Nature by Coessens is a Blanc de Noirs with great character. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, it stands out for its authentic and rigorous interpretation of the variety. Produced according to the Traditional Method, it is presented in the Brut Nature style, offering an extremely dry, taut and crisp profile. International critics have rewarded its technical precision with outstanding ratings. On the palate, it reveals a fresh and pronounced mineral imprint, typical of the region's finest wines.

Where it comes from

This Champagne originates from the Largillier parcel, located in Ville-sur-Arce. The terroir is characterised by a deep limestone composition, an essential factor that gives the wine vibrant tension and accentuates its natural minerality. The vineyards are managed with sustainable viticulture and certified organic, respecting the land. This careful management of the soils delivers a pure and distinctive expression, ensuring remarkable palate cleanliness and elegant persistence.

How it is produced

Production begins with a rigorous selection of bunches at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, the base wine undergoes complete malolactic fermentation, a technical step that imparts stability and balance to the structure. The long ageing on the lees defines the aromatic bouquet and ensures significant potential for evolution over time. Made without any added sugars, it retains an austere and decisive identity. It is an excellent aperitif and pairs ideally with shellfish, lean fish, roast poultry and soft-rind cheeses.

History and Curiosities

In Ville-sur-Arce, the Largillier plot represents the soul of Maison Coessens, born from the family's historic vineyards. This pure organic expression of Pinot Noir results in a fine Champagne AOC Blanc de Noirs Brut. The meticulous production according to the classic method pas dosé, combined with extended ageing on the lees, delivers a vibrant and authentic mineral profile. Praised by international critics, this Champagne encapsulates years of sustainable viticulture and the profound essence of an exceptional chalky soil.

From this winery
My family has owned vineyards in Ville-sur-Arce for 5 generations so it was quite natural that I should take over the family business. In 2006 I decided to start my own champagne house : Champagne Coessens.

After 7 years working as vineyard manager for a large champagne house, creating my own range of champagnes was the realisation and embodiment of one of my profound aspirations.
