Description
What kind of wine it is
Château Suduiraut Sauternes Premier Cru Classé is a refined sweet white wine made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon grapes, transformed by the action of noble rot. Its aromatic profile is deep and enveloping, characterised by intense notes of exotic fruit and candied citrus, accompanied by hints of honey and beeswax. On the palate, it reveals a velvety opulence, balanced by a vibrant freshness that gives structure and harmony. The sip finishes with a persistent and silky finish, enhanced by spicy and liquorice nuances.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the heart of Sauternes, south-east of Bordeaux, near the confluence of the Garonne and Ciron rivers. The meeting of the different water temperatures creates the characteristic autumn mists, essential for the development of Botrytis cinerea, which naturally concentrates the sugars in the grapes. The vineyards grow on sandy and gravelly soil, where pebbles capture the sun's warmth, promoting ideal ripening of the grapes and giving the wine extraordinary brightness and expressive richness.
How it is produced
The production process involves a rigorous staggered harvest, with several passes through the rows to select only the perfectly botrytised bunches. After a slow pressing to extract the richest must, fermentation takes place in oak barrels. The process concludes with a period of maturation in French oak barrels lasting from sixteen to twenty-four months. This meticulous care enhances the wine's aromatic complexity and structure, while preserving the purity of the fruit.
