Description

What kind of wine it is

Chateau Quintus Saint Emilion Grand Cru Le Dragon de Quintus is a still red wine that embodies the authentic soul of Bordeaux. This elegant blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc displays a ruby red colour with violet highlights. On the nose, it reveals a fruity and powerful profile, where hints of small red fruits intertwine with distinct notes of vanilla. On the palate, it is smooth and silky, supported by a pleasant freshness and persistence that enhance the woody nuances, offering a structured and enveloping sip.

Where it comes from

This Saint-Emilion Grand Cru originates from one of the most renowned areas of Bordeaux, within a historic vineyard. The vines sink their roots into a limestone promontory, a geological feature that gives the wine a refined texture and a pronounced mineral and fresh character. The Chateau Quintus estate covers twenty-eight hectares characterised by rich biodiversity, including holm oaks, stone walls and steep slopes. The agronomic management is carried out with full respect for the land, as confirmed by the High Environmental Value and ISO 14001 certifications.

How it is produced

The Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are vinified as reds, with careful skin contact to extract colour and structural components. Fermentation enhances the fruity aromas, while subsequent ageing in barrels encourages the harmonious integration of delicate notes of wood and vanilla. This meticulous process gives the wine a solid structure and a velvety texture. Thanks to its characteristics, it boasts significant ageing potential estimated between ten and fifteen years; it is best enjoyed if decanted for about an hour before serving.

From this winery
The history of Quintus is as ancient as that of Saint-Emilion; it is one of the oldest vineyards in the region, planted in at least the 4th or 5th century B.C. Perched high up on a limestone promontory (hillock), culminating at an altitude of 62 metres, Château Quintus is located at the furthest south-western part of the Saint-Emilion plateau and shares this marvellous position and fabulous micro-climate with the most renowned estates of the appellation.

The property, with 28 hectares of vines, has exceptional biodiversity thanks to the presence of its 2 hectares of grounds, its majestic Holm (evergreen) oaks, its low stone walls and verdant slopes. The team’s daily dedication to developing this incredible biodiversity has already been rewarded by the property obtaining the dual certification of High Environmental Value and ISO14001.
