Description
What kind of wine it is
The Chateau Latour Martillac Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe Rouge is a still red wine that embodies the essence of Pessac Leognan. This blend of great structure is created from the union of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. To the eye, it displays a ruby red colour with violet highlights, which anticipates a bouquet of red and black fruits enhanced by clear spicy notes. On the palate, it is juicy and creamy, with a fruity freshness supported by fine and elegant tannins. Thanks to its decades-long ageing potential, it pairs beautifully with red meats and mature cheeses, ensuring a harmonious sip.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in Martillac, in the historic Graves region of Bordeaux. Chateau Latour-Martillac manages forty-two hectares of vineyards rooted in pebbly soils of Pyrenean origin, with clay and limestone components. These soil characteristics are fundamental in giving the wine a distinct flavour profile and a solid balance between the fruity and tannic elements. Recognised since 1953 among the Grand Cru Classé de Graves, this red elegantly expresses the vocation and complexity of the French terroir.
How it is produced
The creation of this wine benefits from the expertise of oenologist Michel Rolland, who precisely defines the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. In the cellar, the work is aimed at enhancing the distinctive traits of Pessac Leognan, focusing on measured extraction to achieve an elegant tannic texture. To fully appreciate its density and aromatic richness, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving. Served at an ideal temperature of 17°C, the wine offers a persistent and well-structured finish.
