Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut by Chartogne-Taillet expresses the purity of Chardonnay. In the glass, this Champagne displays a straw yellow colour with golden highlights and a fine perlage. On the nose, it weaves floral and fruity aromas with fragrant hints of bread crust. The palate is fresh and elegant, with a complex and persistent structure. With a dry character, it is ideal for accompanying fish dishes, starters and cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Avize, a village in the Côte des Blancs in the Champagne region, an area where Chardonnay is cultivated with precision. Chartogne-Taillet adopts a parcel-based management founded on a biological and sustainable approach. The winery continues a family history dating back to 1485, working in the vineyard to enhance the value of individual plots and to convey the authentic identity of its land in the glass.
How it is produced
The initial fermentation and subsequent ageing in oak barrels give the wine depth. Once the blend is created, the prise de mousse follows the Traditional Method, complemented by a long ageing on the lees which enriches the bouquet with evolved notes. The Extra Brut dosage ensures a dry and linear sip, also guaranteeing excellent ageing potential, capable of evolving in the cellar for over ten years.

The family's wine-making tradition traces back to 1490, with Nicolas Taillet and Fiacre Taillet in 1540. In 1700, a second Fiacre Taillet, a learned winegrower, wrote his memoirs recounting his life and all the important events in the village, his family and his profession. The Chartogne-Taillet family continues this tradition and savoir-faire inherited from this winegrowing heritage. Read more
