Description
What kind of wine it is
Bellavista by Castello di Ama is a highly prestigious Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, a still red wine from Tuscany created from a carefully crafted blend of Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. This label expresses a full-bodied style and a defined polyphenolic structure. The bouquet releases intense fruity, floral, spicy and balsamic notes. On the palate, it is silky, harmonious and rounded, balanced by an enveloping freshness. The sip finishes with a very long and persistent finish, ideal for pairing with grilled meats or mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The wine originates in Ama, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, from the grapes of the prestigious Bellavista Vineyard. This plot is divided into twenty-two parcels cultivated with Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. The terraced arrangement of the rows is designed to optimise sun exposure and ensure uniform ripening of the bunches. The microclimate benefits from significant temperature variations between day and night, a crucial environmental factor for developing aromas, preserving freshness and shaping an elegant, powerful red with great character.
How it is produced
The harvest takes place at different times to respect the perfect ripeness of each variety. The grapes are vinified separately, starting a fermentation with indigenous yeasts in steel vats, supported by numerous manual pump-overs. Maceration on the skins lasts for about twenty-five days. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in Allier oak barrels. Once the blend is created, the process continues with fourteen months of ageing in the same barrels, half of which are new, completing the harmony and structural complexity of the final profile.
History and Curiosities
Born from the vision of four families in the heart of Chianti Classico, this majestic wine has its roots in 1976. Excellence comes to life from the terraced rows of the Bellavista Vineyard, whose 22 plots offer a pure expression of Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera, with grapes harvested at different times for perfect ripeness. The 2021 vintage celebrates this absolute dedication, praised by the world's leading wine critics with 98 points from Vinous.
