Description
What kind of wine it is
Franciacorta Etichetta Nera Extra Brut Riserva Lucrezia by Castello Bonomi is produced using the Traditional Method from Pinot Noir grapes. This refined expression of Franciacorta stands out for its straw yellow colour and extremely fine perlage. The aromatic bouquet weaves together notes of pastry, apricot, aromatic herbs and citrus fruits. On the palate, it offers a lively and savoury freshness combined with an elegant creaminess, making it ideal to pair with shellfish, white meats and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Franciacorta originates from the slopes of Monte Orfano in Lombardy. The grapes come from the estate’s oldest vineyards, situated at around 275 metres above sea level. Low yields per hectare ensure an excellent aromatic concentration. The harvest allows for the selection of grapes ideal for guaranteeing longevity and finesse, enabling the wine to evolve slowly and maintain a rigorous structural harmony over the years.
How it is produced
Production begins with a gentle pressing aimed at extracting only the free-run must. Fermentation in steel tanks is followed by an eight-month rest before the blend is created. Following the principles of the Traditional Method, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle. The very long ageing on the lees, which continues for years before disgorgement, enriches its sensory complexity. A further period of rest in the cellar finally consolidates the elegance of the perlage and the persistence on the palate.
History and Curiosities
Castello Bonomi, the only château in Franciacorta, presents the Riserva Lucrezia Etichetta Nera 2011, an exclusive cuvée of Pinot Noir grapes from the oldest vineyards on Monte Orfano. This prestigious sparkling wine is produced only in the finest years, embodying the perfect harmony between nature and dedication. Its distinctive character comes from an impressive 120 months of ageing on the lees, which gives the wine an extremely fine perlage and an elegant creaminess. A multi-award-winning masterpiece, a true symbol of patience capable of winning over even the most discerning palates.

Here the first wine was born, in the 13th century, four hundred years before that in Champagne. A land of abbeys and priories, this moraine area bounded by Monte Orfano, Monte Alto and the hills of Lake Iseo, knows had its first major development in wine production in the second half of 800, when the historian Gabriele Rosa defined it as a land of "excellent black and white wines". Castello Bonomi lies on the slopes of Monte Orfano, a jewel in a marvelous casket, the only Chateau of Franciacorta. The Castello Bonomi estate takes its name from the original Art Nouveau building designed by architect Antonio Tagliaferri at the end of 800.
The rennovation of the historic cellars combined with the creation of new underground spaces has provided the Castello Bonomi estate with cellars that total an area of more than 1500 square meters.
The annual production of the company is about 150 thousand bottles: 100 thousand of Franciacorta CruPerdu, Satèn, Rosé, Millesimato, Cuvée Lucrezia and Lucrezia Etichetta Nera, Cuvée del Laureato; the rest divided between the Curtefranca: Solicano, Conte Foscari and Cordelio. Read more
