Description
What kind of wine is it
Ciuchino by Valle Asinari is a still organic red wine from Piedmont. This harmonious blend combines Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera, presenting a deep, bright ruby colour. On the palate, it offers a structured body, balanced by pleasant savouriness and fine tannins. The freshness of the Barbera balances the full and enveloping sip, making for an easy-drinking wine ideal for pairing with braised meats, Fassona burgers and mature cheeses.
Where does it come from
This wine originates in Monferrato, a hilly area between Alessandria and Asti dedicated to sustainable agriculture. Part of the Monferrato Rosso denomination, the label faithfully reflects the character of its Piedmontese territory. The synergy between the grape varieties and the soil ensures optimal ripening of the grapes, while careful management of the organic vineyards guarantees fruity intensity and vibrant freshness, for an authentic and consistent profile.
How is it produced
Production involves natural fermentation carried out separately for each variety. The subsequent maturation phase and ageing in concrete continue for a year in dedicated tanks, preserving the purity of the fruit until the final blending. The aromatic profile offers notes of red flowers, blackberries and blueberries, enriched by aromatic herbs. Spices and clear balsamic nuances introduce a persistent finish, characterised by hints of bark, tobacco leaf and light touches of cinchona.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 2015 through the restoration of the historic Bricco Asinari, the Cascina Valle Asinari project embodies the true vocation of Monferrato. Thanks to the passion of two entrepreneurs and the expertise of oenologist Simone Borsari, the winery produces wines that are complex yet accessible. The Ciuchino 2023, certified organic, honours Piedmontese tradition through natural fermentation and a full year of ageing in concrete vats. This deep artisanal dedication culminates in a careful final blending, presented in innovative packaging with rustic charm.
