Description

What kind of wine it is

The Cascina Fontana Dolcetto d’Alba Triple A is a still red wine that embodies the essence of Piedmontese viticulture. Produced exclusively from Dolcetto grapes, it follows the strict agricultural and artisanal principles of the region. In the glass, it displays a lively ruby red colour, enhanced by brilliant purple highlights. On the palate, it offers freshness and immediacy, with a light tannin and a pleasantly savoury finish, making it perfect for moments of genuine conviviality.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Monforte d’Alba, in the heart of the renowned Barolo hills. The vines grow on loam-clay soils, cultivated using the single Guyot system. These pedoclimatic conditions allow the grape variety to express itself clearly and directly. Cascina Fontana is a family-run estate led by Mario Fontana, who manages his six hectares of vineyards with meticulous care dedicated to every single stage of agricultural work.

How it is produced

The vinification process begins with a spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts, with maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks. Maturation continues in the same containers for five months, preserving the aromatic integrity of the fruit. The bouquet releases intense plum notes and small wild berries, with crisp sensations that are consistently reflected on the palate. Best served at 14-16 °C, it demonstrates an excellent capacity for evolution, being able to mature positively over time.

History and Curiosities

Founded in 1995 in Monforte d’Alba by the oenologist Mario Fontana, Cascina Fontana is a small family-run winery nestled among the splendid hills of Barolo. Its Dolcetto d’Alba DOC is born from lush vineyards cultivated using the Guyot method on clay-loam soils, offering an authentic expression of the Langhe region. Produced according to the strict principles of Triple A wines, this artisanal label, presented in the classic Albeisa bottle, celebrates the joy of conviviality and the purest Piedmontese tradition.

We are a small family wine estate located in the Barolo hills of Le Langhe, south of Alba, in Piedmont, Northwest Italy.

This is an area of rare majestic beauty, with vine-covered hills and castle-topped communities looking across to each other over steep, plunging valleys.

Here, in our beautiful land dedicated to the production of wine, my family have grown grapes and produced wines for at least six generations.

Today I continue to grow the traditional grapes of Le Langhe, dolcetto, barbera and nebbiolo, to produce a range of classic and prestigious wines that are the purest expression of the land from which they are born, Le Langhe.
