Description
What kind of wine it is
Marsala Superiore S.O.M. Ambra Secco Bianchi is a refined fortified wine with a bright amber colour. Made from a blend of Grillo, Catarratto and Inzolia, it offers an enveloping bouquet characterised by notes of toasted almond, hazelnut, dates and delicate hints of vanilla. On the palate, it reveals a wine with a dry and intense profile, harmonious and supported by a pronounced savouriness. The finish is long and persistent, recalling dried fruit and sweet spices, making it a perfect meditation wine or an excellent pairing for mature cheeses, smoked cured meats and dry pastries.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow in western Sicily, at the heart of the Marsala Superiore production area. The vineyards are cultivated using the classic alberello marsalese system, on soils that give the grapes their distinctive identity. Production takes place in the historic Baglio Woodhouse, where Bianchi carefully oversees every stage of the winemaking process. The S.O.M. classification guarantees an authentic interpretation of the Sicilian territory, faithfully reflecting its climatic dynamics and geographical strength.
How it is produced
Vinification begins with the ripening of the grapes until they reach the ideal sugar concentration. This is followed by fortification with grape-based alcohol, a process that stops fermentation while maintaining the wine’s dry character. The addition of cooked must defines its typical amber hue. The long ageing in oak barrels for over two years benefits from careful controlled oxidation, which is essential for smoothing the liquid and giving it a broad and persistent aromatic complexity.
