Description

What kind of wine it is

Lessini Durello 733 Brut is a bright and elegant sparkling wine, crafted by Cantina di Montecchia. Made from Durella grapes, it displays a straw yellow colour with brilliant highlights. On the nose, it reveals clear fragrances of elderflower and hawthorn, accompanied by pronounced citrus notes of citron and yellow grapefruit. On the palate, it offers a light and smooth body, highlighting a marked vivacity of flavour. The appreciation of expert critics, as evidenced by the excellent ratings from Luca Maroni and AIS, confirms the pleasantness and balance of this label.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Veneto, in the Lessini Durello area. Its name directly refers to the 733 metres of altitude of the vineyards from which it comes. This elevation, combined with the character of a volcanic soil, imparts notable tension and vibrant freshness to the taste. Production is based on the commitment of hundreds of winegrowers belonging to a cooperative founded in 1958, who cultivate the land while respecting a geological matrix that gives the wine its unmistakable character.

How it is produced

The winemaking process aims to preserve the aromatic integrity of the Durella grape. The base wine ferments and matures exclusively in steel tanks to enhance the purity of its aromas. The subsequent sparkling process takes place in an autoclave following the Charmat method, an ideal technique for achieving a fresh and immediate profile. The Brut dosage keeps the sip pleasantly dry and lively. Served at a temperature of 6-8 °C, it fully expresses its floral and citrus character, ensuring a dynamic and satisfying tasting experience.

History and Curiosities

The Lessini Durello 733 Brut DOC expresses the volcanic soul of the Veneto region. Its name reveals a fascinating detail: 733 metres is in fact the highest altitude reached by the vineyards from which it originates. Produced by Cantina Montecchia di Crosara, founded in 1958 and now a point of reference for 700 winegrowers spread over 280 hectares, this Charmat Method stands out for its elegance, confirmed by prestigious awards, including 90 points from Luca Maroni and the 3 Viti AIS. A vibrant oenological experience, celebrating decades of passion and local dedication.

Cantina di Montecchia di Crosara was founded in and named for the commune of Montecchia di Crosara in the Verona area in 1958 by a group of grapegrowers with the goal of enhancing their productions by joining their efforts together. After a rather complicated initial phase, the winery cooperative began to expand in the 1970s and 80s and attracted a growing number of grower-members. Today, some 700 members cultivate approximately 280 hectares of vineyards. Read more
