Description
What kind of wine it is
Garganega Ulisse from Cantina di Negrar is a still white wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica from Veneto. Made exclusively from Garganega grapes and vinified in steel, it reveals itself on the palate as dry, medium-bodied and pleasantly elegant. The sensory profile opens with clear aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits, combined with delicate hints of light-fleshed fruit. The tasting is supported by moderate acidity that enhances its overall freshness, leading to a harmonious finish enriched by a pleasant note of bitter almond.
Where it comes from
This wine expression originates in the Soave area, a short distance from Verona and Lake Garda. The vineyards stretch across a pre-Alpine hillside, cultivated using the double pergola system on expertly grassed soils. The terrain is varied, from calcareous to clayey, with volcanic soils that impart a pronounced mineral character and a slight savouriness. The temperate climate, constantly caressed by lake breezes, ensures regular ripening, giving this white wine a vibrant freshness.
How it is produced
The production process begins with careful manual harvesting, aimed at selecting the best bunches. In the winery, crushing, destemming and gentle pressing follow. To preserve the fruity profile and varietal purity, the must ferments without skin contact in steel tanks, at strictly controlled temperatures. Subsequent maturation continues in the same material, allowing the delicate aromas to stabilise, ensuring a joyfully harmonious tasting experience.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1933 by seven gentlemen from Verona, the Cantina di Negrar is an outstanding cooperative rooted among the hills of Soave, to the east of Lake Garda. Having established itself as an authoritative point of reference for the appassimento technique, the winery combines deep local winemaking tradition with a contemporary and rigorous vision. The charm of this wine is reflected in its evocative artistic label, which depicts the famous return of Ulysses as told in the Odyssey: a true shared model that enhances the identity of the Veneto region.

The spirit is the same as that of the visionary cooperative founded in 1933 by the seven businessmen from Verona, just as the very same principles guide our work on a daily basis today and inspire every new project: initiative, reciprocity and collaboration.
Generations that work side by side: this is the strength of Cantina Valpolicella Negrar. It is the same strength that has enabled us to stride through history and become the benchmark producer when it comes to Amarone, Ripasso and the technique of Appassimento.
Energy and creativity on the one hand; on the other, the wisdom that comes from the experience of many vintages, leading to a generational renewal that takes place while we work together. Read more
