Description
What kind of wine it is
Pinot Bianco Finado Cantina Andrian is a white wine made from the Pinot Bianco grape variety in the Alto Adige denomination. Vinified in steel and matured on fine lees, it displays a pale greenish-yellow colour and an aromatic profile characterised by notes of apple, ripe pear, melon and a delicate spicy note. On the palate, it is soft and harmonious, supported by an elegant body and a pronounced mineral savouriness. The well-balanced acidity gives liveliness to the drink, leading to a dry, taut and persistent finish, marked by a pleasant bitter aftertaste.
Where it comes from
This white originates from vineyards surrounding the hamlet of Missiano, situated at an altitude between 300 and 500 metres. The vines benefit from an eastern exposure and constant valley breezes, factors that ensure a temperate climate and perfectly healthy grapes. The soil plays a crucial role: the land is clayey and calcareous, characterised by layers of white dolomitic rock. This composition imparts a distinct savoury character and precise taste profile to the wine, enhanced by the significant temperature variations typical of the mountainous landscape.
How it is produced
Production begins with a careful manual harvest, selecting bunches that have reached perfect ripeness. The must ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, preserving the primary aromatic integrity of the alpine fruits. Subsequently, the wine matures in contact with the fine lees for a period of six months. This stage enriches the structure, giving roundness and harmony to the palate, while maintaining a minimal residual sugar for a balanced and pleasantly dry finish.
History and Curiosities
Born within the first cooperative of South Tyrol, founded in 1893, Pinot Bianco Finado embodies true Alpine finesse. This elegant wine has its roots in the vineyards of Missiano, located between 300 and 500 metres above sea level on calcareous soils of white dolomite, which impart a vibrant savouriness. The 2025 vintage is refined for six months on fine lees in steel, acquiring a harmonious structure. Awarded 93 points by Wine Enthusiast, Finado skilfully combines tradition and nature, offering excellent ageing potential until 2027.

Today the strengths of the two wine estates are combined and yet clearly distinct from each other. With its outstanding sites, Cantina Andriano stands for constancy, underpinned by the historic achievement of the Andriano winegrowers for wines like Lagrein, which was one of the first to be aged in barriques here.
On the basis of a consistent commitment to quality and a strong focus on terroir, which had already been a successful recipe in Terlano, Cantina Andriano continues to develop step by step. The winery now looks to the future from a position of strength and can be proud of its identity and standard of quality. They have their roots in unique limestone-rich soils, a climate that is quite different from that of Terlano, and grape varieties ideally suited to these parameters.
That forms the foundation for the distinctive Andriano taste and identity. Read more
