Description
What kind of wine it is
Torre alle Comete by Campo alle Comete is a refined Bolgheri Superiore red wine of great character. This blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon displays an intense ruby colour, enriched with violet highlights. The aromatic bouquet harmoniously combines notes of black cherry, bitter cocoa and delicate menthol hints. On the palate, it reveals velvety tannins and a surprisingly long finish, making it the ideal companion for robust roasts, game dishes and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in selected vineyards located at the foot of the renowned Torre di Donoratico, at an altitude of around 230 metres. This specific area of Bolgheri benefits from a temperate climate, constantly refreshed by sea breezes and bathed in sunlight throughout the day. The balanced and rich soils of the Tuscan coast allow the vines to express an authentic profile, combining a solid polyphenolic structure with pleasant drinkability.
How it is produced
The production process involves separate vinification of the varieties, with fermentation in steel tanks and maceration for about 25 days to optimise extraction. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, partly new, to ensure a discreet contribution from the wood while respecting the integrity of the fruit. A further 12 months of bottle ageing defines its final balance, ensuring the wine has an extraordinary ageing potential.
History and Curiosities
A pioneer among the vineyards on the Torre di Donoratico hill, this exclusive Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC is produced at an altitude of 230 metres, offering views along the Etruscan coast as far as the Island of Elba. Awarded an impressive 95 points by James Suckling, the 2021 vintage combines the dreamlike charm of the region with a harmonious profile, translating the magic of this precious subzone into pure excellence.

The name Campo to Comets comes from a historical name of the area where the company is based, that "disappeared" over time.
The first signtature wine from Campo alle Comete is 'Stupore', a Bolgheri DOC, from 2015's harvest. The name was chosen to reflect tradition and experience but also poetry and imagination and to amaze, with memorable flavours and tastes.
Campo alle Comete Rosastella 2021 was awarded 92 points by Wine Enthusiast, and is also among the six rosés of the year. Read more
