Description
What kind of wine it is
Vite Vecchia by Ca’ d’Gal is a white, sweet and natural Moscato d’Asti, characterised by a gentle effervescence and made from Moscato Bianco grapes grown in the heart of the Langhe. Its bouquet is broad and persistent, with refreshing notes of citrus, mint and sage that give way to acacia honey and complex petroleum-like nuances. On the palate, it is dense, with a balanced sweetness that blends perfectly with the grape’s natural acidity.
Where it comes from
This Moscato d’Asti originates in Valdivilla, from a selected vineyard at four hundred metres above sea level. The roots of these historic vines penetrate tertiary soils, formed from ancient marine sedimentation. The hilly terrain, crumbly and rich in limestone, white marl and blue clay, enjoys an ideal southern exposure. The cool temperate climate, with its harsh winters and dry summers, allows the grape’s great aromatic intensity to develop slowly.
How it is produced
The grapes are hand-harvested in autumn, waiting for a slight over-ripening to concentrate their aromas. After gentle pressing, the must ferments in a pressurised tank at a controlled temperature to achieve a fine perlage, maturing on selected yeasts. Production continues with sterile filtration and a distinctive refinement in river sand. The long rest in a dark, humid and protected environment gives the wine a structured longevity and a fascinating evolution over time.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1989 in Valdivilla, in the heart of the Langhe, the Ca’ d’Gal project blends tradition and artistry thanks to the vision of oenologist Alessandro Boido. From vines over 70 years old comes Vigna Vecchia, a wine whose soul inspired the artist Didier Michel in the creation of its renowned label. The extraordinary evolution of the 2018 vintage is the result of exclusive maturation in river sand for 60 months, a traditional technique that gives this Moscato d’Asti DOCG unrivalled longevity, enhancing its balanced sweetness and aromatic richness.

The marriage of tradition and new experiences comes from the stories and memories of my father, specifically a dinner with some friends, the "seigiornisti" by Giacomo Bologna.
During that evening, as always relaxed and friendly, they told their stories, retracing their memories and different harvests. It was at that moment as I listened to them, I suddenly found myself thinking that those memories could become reality again. It was that night that I decided exactly which vineyards could fulfill my dream: the vineyard of Mr. Pierino Valdivilla and Brichet would become the "Vigna Vecchia" from Ca ‘D’ Gal .
From that long ago moment in 1990, the road has been long, intense and full of trials and research, testimonials and confirmations but today, tasting our wines, visiting the winery or by sitting with us at the table in our agritourismo, you will find all these experiences and the understand of our history .
