Description

What kind of wine it is

Ca’ del Bosco Chardonnay Selva della Tesa is a still white wine from Sebino that fully enhances Chardonnay. The glass, with its straw yellow colour and golden highlights, reveals a bouquet of nashi pear, white melon, orange zest and fragrant notes of brioche. On the palate, it displays an elegant and powerful structure, supported by fresh acidity and pronounced mineral hints of wet stone. The savoury sip stretches into a persistent finish, making it ideal for pairing with seafood first courses, shellfish, grilled fish and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from Lombardy, in the Franciacorta area, from eight selected vineyards organically managed and located between the municipalities of Erbusco, Passirano and Provaglio d’Iseo. The vines, with an average age of thirty-five years, sink their roots into soils that impart deep aromatic complexity to the harvest. Careful agronomic management allows Ca’ del Bosco to obtain intact fruit, capable of faithfully expressing the characteristics of the terroir and its expressive potential.

How it is produced

Production follows the Ca’ del Bosco Method: after manual harvesting in small crates and washing by hydromassage, the grapes are pressed in total absence of oxygen. The free-run must ferments in small oak barrels, where it rests on the lees for nine months, also undergoing malolactic fermentation. The different expressions are then blended, bottled by gravity and protected from oxidative shock. A prolonged ageing in bottle of three years and six months stabilises and defines the finesse of the flavour profile.

History and Curiosities

Produced in Franciacorta, Selva della Tesa is a still white wine that embodies the excellence of Ca’ del Bosco. This renowned pure Chardonnay comes from eight selected vineyards, whose grapes undergo an exclusive washing and hydromassage process. The meticulous vinification in the absence of oxygen and gravity bottling preserve its integrity, preventing any oxidative stress. Awarded the 5 Grappoli Bibenda and aged for a long time, it releases a sublime aromatic complexity, offering the palate an elegant sip enhanced by a vibrant mineral freshness.

Ca' del Bosco is the mainstay of the Franciacorta terroir. The Ca' del Bosco wineries were founded in the mid-1960s by Annamaria Clementi Zanella, who bought a modest house of the same name in Erbusco, which was endowed with vineyards and woods. However, her son, Maurizio Zanella, started wine production, enhancing the terroir's characteristics and transforming that small house into one of Italy's most productive wineries. In fact, these cellars are distinguished for producing the famousCa' del Bosco sparkling wine, which is characterised by its elegant yet strong personality given by intense, juicy aromas and fullness of flavour. Today Ca' del Bosco is a well-established business, producing numerous labels, including still wines, both red and white, and Franciacorta for which Xtrawine has reserved a place of honour. You can choose from bottles of the best vintages from 2008 with an ageing capacity of between 15 and 25 years that will bring out the best in all your dishes: from pasta to fish and shellfish to dessert, the fruity notes will envelop your palate with every sip.
