Description
What kind of wine it is
Rosa dei Frati by Cà dei Frati is a still rosé wine from Lombardy, representing the Riviera del Garda Classico, vinified and matured in steel. This blend of Groppello, Marzemino, Sangiovese and Barbera offers a clear and elegant sensory profile. On the palate, it is dry, fresh and pleasantly savoury, supported by a vivid mineral acidity. Tasting reveals an almost velvety texture that balances the sip, fading into a long and persistent finish, enriched by a delicate hint of almond, in a glass that combines drinkability with harmonious structure.
Where it comes from
The grapes grow on the southern shore of Lake Garda, in an area between Sirmione and Desenzano. The vineyards benefit from a mild lakeside climate that encourages regular ripening, preserving the aromatic freshness of the grapes. Situated at an altitude between sixty and eighty metres, the vines are rooted in complex soils characterised by a pronounced calcareous-clay matrix, enriched with silt and sand. This combination gives the wine a clear gustatory tension. To maintain the authentic identity of the territory, Cà dei Frati carries out a meticulous separate vinification by plot.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a night harvest, an essential technique to protect the freshness of the fruit and limit oxidation. In the winery, a brief maceration on the skins follows, a key step to delicately extract the rosé colour and define a pure aromatic component. This is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in steel and a subsequent partial malolactic fermentation, which gives roundness without compromising the acidic tension. The process concludes with maturation in steel on fine lees for six months and a final resting period to allow the wine to reach its full expressive balance.
History and Curiosities
Located in Lugana di Sirmione since 1782, the Cà dei Frati winery enhances the essence of Lake Garda by vinifying the grapes from each plot separately. The vineyards benefit from the mild lakeside climate between Sirmione and Desenzano, receiving meticulous care from the spring budding of the vines to their autumn rest. A skilful night-time harvest preserves their aromatic freshness, resulting in a wine that is pure and long-lasting, true to its territory.

It was in 1939 when Felice Dal Cero, son of Domenico, already a winemaker in Montecchia Crosara in Verona, moved in that house, Lugana of Sirmione, sensing immediately the wine-growing area.
After 30 years of work in the vineyard and winery in 1969, his son Peter participated in the creation of Doc started to bottle its first Lugana Casa dei Frati label.
Today, with his wife Santa Rosa cultural heritage has been passed on to children Igino, Gian Franco and Anna Maria who run the company with the same passion and determination.
Mutual respect, the union of the family, defined roles and the link to their territory on the shores of Lake Garda, represent the true strength of the Dal Cero family
