Description

What kind of wine it is

The Bourgogne Chardonnay Hautes Coutures by Buisson-Charles is a still white wine that elegantly interprets the character of the Burgundy region. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, it reveals a mineral bouquet enriched with notes of apple, pear and delicate floral nuances. On the palate, it offers a embracing texture, perfectly balanced by a vibrant acidity that enhances its freshness. The finish, clean and dry, stands out for its distinct saline note and a slight menthol touch, making it perfect to accompany shellfish, delicate fish and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from three plots located in the Côte d’Or, spread between the renowned communes of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyards are rooted in limestone soils particularly rich in pebbles, a key element in giving the wine tension and flavour definition. The vines are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming and planted at high density to encourage natural competition among the plants. Strict vineyard management allows for deliberately limited yields, ensuring superior aromatic concentration in the grapes.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a manual harvest, with meticulous selection of the bunches already in the field. After gentle pressing, the must ferments and matures in oak barrels from the Tronçais forest; the use of a minimal proportion of new wood ensures the varietal character is not overwhelmed. The winery chooses not to use invasive oenological corrections, such as chaptalisation or acidification. The wine is finally bottled without filtration or fining, preserving the purity and complex nature of the raw material.

From this winery
Today managed by Catherine Buisson and her husband Patrick Essa, the Domaine Buisson-Charles, of modest size - 6.3 hectares - has been cultivating for several generations plots of land located on the finage of Meursault, which completes with the vintages of Volnay and Pommard for its red wines, as well as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Chablis Premier Pru and Grand Cru and Corton-Charlemagne.

The company cultivates Meursault and Meursault Premiers Crus on soils with very different climates, which allows to produce a complex mixture of cuvée, "vieilles-vignes" of Meursault and to isolate particular vintages such as Tessons in a village and Charmes, Cras, Bouches-Chères and Goutte d'Or in premiers crus. The very old vines - aged between 30 and 90 years - are naturally not very productive and allow to obtain, after the vinification and refinement, very concentrated wines destined to a long aging. A presumed choice that fixes the production of the company in the long run.
