Description
What kind of wine it is
Bruno Giacosa Spumante Metodo Tradizionale Extra Brut is a sparkling wine produced from the white vinification of Pinot Nero grapes. Made strictly following the Traditional Method, it appears a straw yellow colour, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose, elegant fruity notes emerge, combined with hints of yeast and bread crust. The palate is dry, full and velvety, pairing perfectly with fish carpaccio and vegetarian dishes.
Where it comes from
The grapes originate in the Oltrepò Pavese, a region renowned for the cultivation of Pinot Nero destined for sparkling wine production. The raw material is then transferred to Neive, in Piedmont. Here, the Bruno Giacosa winery, famous for its wines in Serralunga d’Alba, La Morra and Barbaresco, applies its technical expertise, meticulously overseeing every stage in the cellar. This collaboration between areas of excellence results in a product of great precision and character.
How it is produced
Production faithfully follows the Traditional Method, which involves refermentation in the bottle for the formation of bubbles. The sparkling wine undergoes a lengthy six-year maturation on the lees, a crucial step to enrich the aromatic profile and give structure to the palate. The Extra Brut dosage ensures a pleasant dryness, elegantly balancing the wine’s natural softness, making it harmonious and profound.
History and Curiosities
The 2022 vintage of the Traditional Method Sparkling Wine by Bruno Giacosa is a true rarity that combines the excellence of Pinot Noir grapes from Oltrepò Pavese with expert winemaking in the cellars of Neive. Carefully overseen by oenologist Dante Scaglione, this elegant Blanc de Noirs is aged for 6 years on the lees, developing a fine and persistent perlage. The result is an Extra Brut with a dry, smooth and remarkably full palate, enriched by intoxicating fruity notes and hints of yeast and biscuit.
