Description
What kind of wine it is
Brancaia No. 2 is a still organic red wine produced by Brancaia, an authentic expression of the Maremma Toscana made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. It presents a deep ruby red colour, revealing a bouquet ranging from ripe black fruits to delicate notes of aromatic herbs and rosemary, with a hint of chocolate. On the palate, it displays a robust body balanced by velvety tannins. The meeting of cherry sweetness and the freshness of redcurrant creates a persistent sip, ensuring immediate pleasure and excellent ageing potential.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the sunny coastal strip of the Maremma Toscana, in an area with a distinctly Mediterranean climate. The hot summers are tempered by a gentle sea breeze and a high temperature range, essential factors that favour optimal phenolic ripening. The vineyards stretch over gentle hills between 75 and 175 metres above sea level, with a favourable west-southwest exposure. The terroir is distinguished by the soil composition, predominantly sandy with infiltrations of silt and clay, which gives the wine a mineral note and a measured structural elegance.
How it is produced
The production process begins with a skin maceration lasting about eighteen days, aimed at extracting colour and polyphenolic components with great precision. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature to preserve complete aromatic purity. Maturation continues for twelve months in second-use French oak barrels, a technical choice that gently integrates spicy notes without overpowering the fruit's character. The wine completes its journey with a final ageing necessary to harmonise the components and ensure a soft and satisfying finish.
