Description
What kind of wine it is
Trentangeli is an organic red wine that clearly expresses the character of its place of origin. This intriguing blend skilfully combines Aglianico, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes, creating a structured and persistent flavour profile. In the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour, while the aromatic bouquet evokes notes of morello cherry, raspberry and red fruit in spirit, enriched by spicy nuances and hints of liquorice. On the palate, the entry is soft and broad, supported by well-balanced acidity and velvety tannins that define its elegance without ever being overpowering.
Where it comes from
This wine is born in the Murgia Barese, within the Bocca di Lupo Estate of Tormaresca. Its connection with Castel del Monte ensures an authentic identity. The name is inspired by the Trentangeli district, an ancient crossroads for transhumance routes. Local tales recount that shepherds would find rest in this area, protected by the symbolic presence of thirty angels. The estate is dedicated to enhancing the territory, bringing its natural vocation to the glass.
How it is produced
The manual harvest takes place between the end of August and the first weeks of October, selecting slightly overripe bunches to increase the phenolic potential. Alcoholic fermentation is initiated in truncated conical stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by fifteen days of maceration. During this phase, targeted techniques such as punching down and délestage encourage measured and balanced extraction. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to French and Hungarian oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation and mature for ten months. The process concludes with a further nine months of ageing and the total absence of filtration, an essential choice to preserve the structural richness of the product.
History and Curiosities
Born from Antinori's vision to enhance the Apulian region through the Bocca di Lupo estate, Trentangeli is a tribute to the ancient transhumance routes, once protected by thirty angels. This refined organic Apulian red, made from Aglianico, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes grown in Minervino Murge, embodies regional authenticity. Expert vinification without filtration and ageing in oak barriques result in a wine with an intense ruby colour, enlivened by notes of morello cherry and pleasantly velvety tannins.
