Description
What kind of wine it is
The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Bertani is a red wine of great elegance, characterised by a powerful yet well-balanced profile. Made from a blend of Corvina and Rondinella grapes, it stands out for its solid structure harmonised by fine tannins. The aromatic bouquet ranges from cherry to dried fruit, with hints of liquorice and notes of vanilla. On the palate, it is rich and enveloping, culminating in a persistent and harmonious finish. Its complexity makes it a perfect meditation wine, ideal for accompanying roasts, game and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes originate from the Novare Estate, located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica, in Arbizzano di Negrar. This area represents the pure expression of Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. The vineyards thrive on calcareous and basaltic soils, whose mineral composition gives the wine a distinct character and ideal balance. Bertani manages these lands by enhancing the Venetian terroir and the authentic identity of this wine region, carefully preserving the original quality of the fruit.
How it is produced
Production follows the strict method of grape drying. The bunches rest for one hundred and twenty days on arèle, the traditional bamboo racks, to concentrate their aromas and structure. In January, pressing and fermentation take place, followed by ageing that ranges from six to eight years in large Slavonian oak casks, completed by further maturation in the bottle. This meticulous artisanal process ensures the wine's extraordinary ageing potential, defining its profound identity and harmonious character.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1857, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Bertani is a masterpiece of dedication that embodies the purest Venetian tradition. From the carefully selected grapes of the Novare Estate comes a timeless wine, the result of a slow drying process on bamboo racks lasting 120 days. The love for historical methods is expressed in a patient ageing of 6-8 years in large Slavonian oak barrels, which imparts magnificent complexity. An icon with a long ageing potential, true to its charm and its famous design, which has remained unchanged since 1958.
