Description
What kind of wine it is
Convento Santissima Annunciata produced by Bellavista is a still white wine from the Curtefranca area. Made by enhancing the characteristics of Chardonnay, it stands out for its bright straw yellow colour with greenish highlights. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of ripe fruit, old-fashioned rose and pineapple, enriched by a delicate hint of vanilla. On the palate, it expresses an elegant mineral freshness and a pronounced savouriness, making it perfect to pair with fish dishes and cheeses.
Where it comes from
This wine originates on Monte Orfano, in Lombardy, where Bellavista cultivates a historic vineyard with a southern exposure. The vineyard surrounds the ancient Convento Santissima Annunciata, dating back to 1449 and set amidst a landscape of centuries-old oaks and olive trees, symbolising an ancient agricultural tradition. The area covers about five hectares characterised by two complementary soils, divided by a large fig tree marking the centre of the property. In-depth research has highlighted the uniqueness of this terroir, capable of producing grapes with a distinct territorial identity.
How it is produced
Production begins with meticulous hand harvesting of the grape bunches. The must ferments in small white oak barrels, a step that ensures balanced development. The wine rests in wood for about twelve months, a period necessary to harmonise the structure and integrate the refined vanilla notes. The process is completed with a further year of ageing, essential to define the gustatory tension and final aromatic complexity.
