Description
What kind of wine it is
Bell’Aja Bolgheri Superiore is a still red wine created from a meticulous blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. An authentic expression of Bolgheri Rosso Superiore, this wine by San Felice stands out in the glass for its deep ruby red colour. The aromatic profile opens with intense scents of ripe fruit, enriched by spicy notes of liquorice and delicate hints of cocoa. On the palate, it reveals a balanced texture, offering a full and dense sip, supported by silky and enveloping tannins.
Where it comes from
This red is produced at the San Felice estate, specifically in the Le Sondraie area, a highly renowned zone in the heart of Bolgheri, Tuscany. The grapes come from the estate’s best plots, cultivated using the spur-pruned cordon system. The uniqueness of the territory is reflected in the roots of the vines, which thrive in a distinctive silty-sandy soil, essential for giving the wine its precise territorial identity. This geological matrix encourages harmonious development, combining drinkability with a defined structure.
How it is produced
The process begins with fermentation with maceration on the skins for twenty-five days, aimed at extracting colour and structure. Afterwards, the wine matures for eighteen months in French oak barrels, to consolidate and evolve the tannins. This method, combined with balanced acidity, ensures its stability over time. The result is a harmonious sip, with a strong ageing potential that can reach up to fifteen years.
