Description
What kind of wine it is
Bel Colle Verduno Pelaverga is a still red wine from Piedmont. Made exclusively from Pelaverga Piccolo grapes, this red faithfully represents the Verduno Pelaverga denomination, offering a fresh and elegant profile. To the eye, it displays a bright ruby red colour, enhanced by delicate violet hues. The aromatic bouquet is intense and fragrant, dominated by enveloping cherry aromas and red fruits, enriched by a spicy note. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant velvety texture, resulting in a harmonious, dry wine with a soft acidity that leads to a balanced and persistent finish.
Where it comes from
This red originates from the hills of Verduno and selected areas in the neighbouring municipalities of Roddi and La Morra, in the heart of Piedmont. The vineyards tended by Bel Colle, cultivated according to the principles of organic and sustainable production, are rooted in a choice terroir. The calcareous soils, typical of this hilly area of the Langhe, are fundamental in giving the wine its marked freshness and well-balanced structure. The pedoclimatic characteristics of the area enhance the typical spicy signature of the native grape variety, ensuring a clean expression in the glass that is deeply connected to its land of origin.
How it is produced
Production begins with a rigorous selection of the grapes, hand-picked and carefully sorted to ensure the integrity of the bunches. The traditional vinification is carried out at a controlled temperature, an essential technique to preserve the clarity of the fruity notes and maintain a slender, agile structure. This oenological approach results in a wine of extraordinary versatility at the table. Served between 16 and 18 °C, it is the ideal companion for platters of cured meats and cheeses, as well as enhancing the flavour of mushroom-based dishes, pork or game. Its smooth drinkability also makes it suitable for accompanying fish-based preparations.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 1967 in the heart of the Langhe, the Bel Colle winery combines technological innovation and tradition under the guidance of Walter Bosio. This excellent Verduno Pelaverga DOC is produced from fine Pelaverga Piccolo grapes, grown on particularly suitable calcareous soils that give the wine extraordinary elegance. The Piedmontese spirit is also reflected in the artistic label designed by Pino Galliccio, a vibrant tribute to the unmistakable colours and aromas that characterise the picturesque hills of the region.
