Description

What kind of wine it is

Bel Colle Barolo Simposio is a still red wine that expresses the authentic elegance of Nebbiolo. On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet with aromas of ripe dark fruit, black cherry and floral hints of violet, enriched by notes of spice, oak and leather. On the palate, this Barolo displays a full body and a structured progression, supported by a lively acidity and a pleasant mineral streak. The polished tannins are integrated into a robust and harmonious sip, offering a long and defined persistence.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from the hills of Verduno, an area located in the northern part of the denomination. The south-facing vineyards, situated between two hundred and three hundred metres above sea level, are cultivated following sustainable farming practices. The soils, characterised by a mix of clay and limestone, give the vines balanced development. This geological matrix, combined with a high planting density, imparts the wine with its typical chalky texture and an acidic backbone that perfectly supports its evolution.

How it is produced

Production begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, followed by a brief period in contact with dry ice. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, while maceration on the skins lasts for over fifteen days to ensure optimal extraction. Afterwards, the wine matures for thirty-six months in French and Slavonian oak barrels, acquiring softness and complexity. The final bottle ageing of at least six months perfects its aromatic balance.

History and Curiosities

Born on the prestigious hills of Verduno, Bel Colle Barolo Simposio embodies the excellence of the Bosio family, skilfully combining artisanal tradition with modern techniques. The name evokes a harmonious symphony of vineyards, designed to enhance the refined nuances of Nebbiolo. The grapes, carefully hand-picked, give rise to a wine that matures for 36 months in Slavonian and French oak barrels, completing its ageing in the bottle. This meticulous care results in a sip with velvety tannins, widely celebrated by international critics.

We are in Verduno, on the hills of Barolo, a natural treasure nested between Alba and La Morra, a luminous amphitheatre where the King of wines "Barolo" finds some of its finest and most delicate expressions. In our vineyards we grow the great traditional grape varieties: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato. But we also give voice to rare and precious varieties, our pearls of Langa: Nascetta, Favorita and especially Pelaverga, of which we are the largest producers in Piedmont. In the winery we use passion and experience: our philosophy of winemaking is according to artisan tradition, without forcing. Our goal is to enhance the identity of the grape variety while indulging in our wines’ natural propensity for excellence. Read more
